skip to content home about us contact us privacy policy home about us contact us privacy policy posts fisheries management may 24th, 2018 by mickey for every organization or individual planning to go into large-scale fishing for a long-term, there should be perfect arrangements. this is by putting up strategies and possible manpower input. this is to ensure that the implementation of the strategies goes on as planned. the first important strategy to put in place is an effective gathering of information. this will give you the view of how the anglers in the lake are impacting the fishery at the specific time of the day. the most important thing about this is that the manager will get firsthand information of how the management system works and how it impacts the fishery. this is where the manager of the fishery feels it is very important for him to get to talk to anglers and know more about their desires and what they need from our company. at my company, my main job is to collect data to make recommendations for stocking and fishing regulations. through this blog, i make all the information about it public. i also put across information to the public concerning fishing, access to fishing zones and fish population. i also supervise to ensure that i improve the habitat improvement projects and fish attractor projects, this is to try to improve the fish catching rates. many anglers have a lot of unanswered questions. some seek for answers on why the regulations do not allow one to keep the first 25 fish that they catch. it is also with a lot of concern that a lot of small fish that have been hooked die just after they are thrown back into the water. this makes me as a manager, to seize the opportunity and explain a little bit about the situation. while i become much sympathetic with to the position the that the angler undergoes. in most of the states in the us, we don’t have a catch and keep policy. every fish that is caught at anytime should be returned back to the water. if kept away from the water for a long time it will die hence leading to depletion of some species of fish. this policy has been very instrumental in controlling the size of a population of fish and its young ones. all top managers require complex skills. this is because the job as you are well aware involves collecting and analyzing data. you have to find the meaning of the numbers that you have. the data must make sense in its application areas. the data will be most important when used to make recommendations for habitat improvement, regulation changes, and stocking. though, the largest part of the job still involves hands-on work with fish. managers in fishery farms like me need to know what a water body is made up of before he/she comes up with recommendations for managing it effectively. trap-fishing is one of the ways used to catch fish and from this data can be collected by the manager. through this, you know your business environment in and out with relation to the work you do on the field and the office. to conclude, for a fishery management to work out well it needs to have an effective leadership and control from the top to the bottom. the management will put in place standards for its workers which will guide them through the activities they get involved in like fishing and data collection. the data when well interpreted will benefit the company to prosper to greater heights posted in fishing the fisherman’s code of conduct may 17th, 2018 by mickey whenever you set out for fishing, there are a set of standards that you always have to keep in mind. these standards are put in place in consideration of everyone involved in the practice. it ensures for the wellbeing of the fisherman and the environment and most of all the fish that the fisherman go in search of. people have mixed feelings about whether the codes of conducts should be put in place or not. they feel that the codes of conduct will kill the fun that many people enjoy especially when they go out to sportfish. it’s by consensus that everyone agrees that we really need these ethics to have good and orderly fishing in our waterbodies. all the fishermen should have the following codes of ethics in mind every time he/ she sets out for fishing: angling ethics begin with understanding and obeying laws and regulations associated with the fishery. fly anglers understand that their conduct relative to laws and regulations reflects on all anglers. angling ethics begin with and transcend laws and regulations governing angling and the resources that sustain the sport. the opportunity to participate in the sport of fly fishing is a privilege and a responsibility to all. fly anglers respect private property and always ask permission before entering or fishing private property. they seek to understand and follow the local customs and practices associated with the fishery. they share the waters equally with others whether they are fishing or engaging in other outdoor activities. fishers minimize their impact on the environment and fishery by adopting practices that do not degrade the quality of the banks, waters, and the overall watersheds upon which fisheries depend. these practices include avoiding the introduction of species not native to an ecosystem, and cleaning and drying fishing gear to prevent the inadvertent transport of invasive exotics that may threaten the integrity of an aquatic ecosystem. in simplest terms, fly anglers always leave the fishery better than when they found it. angling authorities endeavor to conserve fisheries by understanding the importance of limiting their catch. “catch and release” is an important component of sustaining premium fisheries that are being over-harvested. whenever you fish you should release fish properly and with minimal harm. they promote the use of barbless hooks and angling practices that are more challenging but which help to sustain healthy fish populations. anglers treat fellow anglers as they would expect to be treated. they do not impose themselves on or otherwise interfere with other anglers. they wait a polite time, and then, if necessary, request permission to fish through. they may invite other anglers to fish through their positions. fly fishers when entering an occupied run or area always move in behind other anglers, not in front of them whether in a boat or wading. anglers when sharing the water allow fellow anglers enough room so as not to disturb anyone’s fishing experience. they always fish in a manner that causes as little disturbance as practical to the water and fish. they take precautions to keep their shadow from falling across the water. fishermen always compliment other anglers and promote this code of fishing ethics to them whether they fish with a fly or not. posted in fishing my favorite rod and reel may 10th, 2018 by mickey for every angler having the best rod and reel is ideal. before i set out for fishing, i always make sure i am well prepared for the adventure. this is by having my rod and reel ready for what is ahead. there are certain qualities that i always make sure that my rod and reel have. this makes sure that it is dependable at all times. nowadays, when going out to look for the best rod and reel combo you will find it a little bit difficult. there are a lot of good quality products in the market. you will find that almost all of them will be meeting the qualities that you require for your ideal rod and reel combo. this will leave you in a dilemma. for me, because i have been through such a situation a number of times; i always go for plussino spinning rod and reel combo. this combo is my favourite because it has the features that get me through with what i want even when i feel unsure of what i want. materials one of the most important considerations that i made before deciding on my choice was the material it was made using. through the years, the manufacturers have been perfecting the materials they use to manufacture it. this is making it even better. it is manufactured using fiberglass combined with carbon fibre. this has made it stronger and more durable. as it is with many products from the same manufacturer, small parts of it are made of high-quality plastic. the guide inserts that are on the rod are put in place using aluminium oxide. the seats on the reels are constructed using stainless steel. this prevents them from rusting in both sea and salty water. they always appear shiny even under the threat of rust. the rod i prefer plussino most because of its rod which is made out of a combination of fibre and fiberglass. this makes it very durable and strong. the material is very important for it. it does not rust or corrode no matter the environment it is in. it is ideal in both salt and fresh water. nobody can remain less than impressed with this. the end of the pole is also fitted with a grip which really enhances its handling when fishing. it is also light in weight though stronger making it more comfortable for everyone. the reel the reel i use is model ha3000. it is one of the latest reels in the market hence has the most advanced features. it has a gear ratio of 5:2:1 like most of the others in the market. the anti-reverse handle that it has makes it very comfortable with users who struggle with the sinking of solid hooks. the strength of a solid hook makes it very efficient especially when the fish strikes. the most important quality in it is that it has a computer-balanced rotor which makes the user have an easy time. the stress of looking for the numbers of bearings in a reel is now over. it is not as stressful as it used to be. the reel is never jerky. it’s very precise. this makes it one of a kind for me. to sum up, this fishing combo is all i ever wanted. it has made fishing to be a very exciting experience for me. i am looking forward to many years of adventure with this. posted in fishing
